24 Jan 02Once again we come to the end of the year and it been the busiest yet. The company's been involved with 63 shows from Bournemouth to Lancashire & Gloucester to Norwich, we've worked on shows as diverse as 'Pavarotti' in Hyde Park, Robbie Williams at the Milton Keynes Bowl, 'Jam in the park', the Big Chill festival, the classical shows touring the stately homes of the UK and the Reading/Leeds festivals.
No matter where we were or what we were doing we worked with some great success (Don't mention the Kosovans). You're hard work and efforts made this year special and we couldn't have managed without you. Wherever you worked and whatever you did Janet and I would like say an enormous thank you!
The Classicals
At Kenwood House (North London) the light classical shows were spread over the twelve summer weekends, a team under the leadership of "Tricky" Lee set-up and dismantled about two thousand deck chairs while looking after the litter.
The Performing Arts Management concerts (Janet leading the charge) toured the country with stage & site equipment, with the orchestra following closely behind this concert package travelled to 24 separate locations.
Many thanks to all who worked on both shows especially the "Derby Choir" who sang to the audience as they departed at the end of the final night.
This year has seen us completing a full circle within outdoor events - back to our origins. We started at Reading Festival as the litter crew and there are still a few old hands that remember those days. It's getting more and more difficult to recruit for these jobs and we've had to pull in a lot of agency staff, although some have been very good and have continued working with us on the whole there was no interest in doing a good job which is what were known for. The work can just be hard work but can also be quite good fun, remember these teams have seen artists such as Pavarotti and Robbie, have attended Proms & Party in the Park and have quite enjoyed themselves. If you're interested in working on any of these litter jobs please let me know on next years form, this should be with you by the end of February.
The Party
Tristan & Mark decided the company should hold a party each year at the end of the festival season...so one Saturday night in October we were all in a certain Tennis club for a little celebration. Although only 50 or so turned up a great night was had by all, it's been 'formally' decided we will do this again at the end of 2002's season. Be great to have more of us there for this years, if you didn't know about it I'm sorry this was my fault for not getting in touch.
We hope you're enjoying the website, it's designed to not only provide the latest information about the company & shows but also for you're comments to us and to help you to keep in touch with those you've worked with. Please feel free to chat to us/each other and even air any complaints if you'd like to. The party picture of me talking to Mark about his pay rise...it's not quite as it appears!
Steven and Caroline had another Boy in October, his names Liam.
All the best from Dick & Janet.
